Description

The question of Africa’s perennial and escalating poverty seems to have no answers with many concocted notions championed by various sections to push known agendas.

The author Andyford Mayele Banda is leader of the People’s Alliance for Change (PAC) and a Zambian Presidential aspirant who has already attempted to be President twice coming out 4th out of 9 and 16 in the 2016 and 2021 general elections as a youth just aged 35 and 40 respectively.

Banda believes it is time for Africa to claim her rightful position in the international political and economic affairs by dismantling the current political and economic systems inherited from colonialism.

In this book ‘Economic Systems Dismantling – Why Zambia can be the model of African transformation’ explores the impact of colonialism and its political and economic systems on Africa starting the journey from the Berlin Conference of 1884 through independence to our modern day.

There is enough evidence to demonstrate that the colonial political and economic systems set up during Europe’s industrial revolution and to a greater extent aided, facilitated and perpetuated by African elites for their personal gain are still present and largely responsible for Africa’s underdevelopment and escalating poverty.

While some may argue that six decades after independence, Africa cannot continue blaming colonialism, it is clear in Economic Systems Dismantling that colonialism has had lasting effects on the continent’s political and economic systems which has enabled the continuous exploitation of Zambia and African mineral resources at large.

To move Africa to the path of economic transformation and reverse the escalating poverty, the only solution is to dismantle and disentangle from the colonial overload.

Zambia’s political and economic systems delving through the mining, agricultural, banking and financial services, energy, manufacturing and tourism are used to demonstrate what needs to be done to dismantle and reverse the upward trend of poverty towards the African transformation agenda.

The book suggests concrete solutions to the many challenges affecting Zambia and by extension to the continent.
